Research - Sam Taylor-Johnson

Sam Taylor-Johnson is an English filmmaker and photographer. One of her film works has been on one of the members of the Beatles, John Lennon. Taylor-Johnson began showing her fine art photography work off in the early 90s. Taylor-Johnson then later created a wraparound photomural around scaffolding of the London department store Selfridges during the time it was being restored. The piece featured 21 icons including Elton John. The piece referenced famous works of art from the past and recent movies. Another piece that Sam Taylor-Johnson has created is a time-lapse called "Still life". The time-lapse shows fruit decaying over time, becoming mouldy and inedible. Taylor-Johnson created the work in 2001 and commented "The classical still life is updated in this exquisite, simple meditation on morality and beauty. The addition of a supermarket peach and a Bic pen prompts questions about modern attempts at immorality.". She used a 35mm film camera to capture the images for the creation, meaning she needed to take 5376 images minimum to create the 3 minutes and 44 second long short film.
